Consumer reports tested forty five popular fruit juices including grape, apple, pear which are sold across North America. As per the report almost half of the tested packaged fruit juices contained potentially harmful levels of toxic heavy metals such as arsenic, lead and cadmium.  Heavy metals are naturally found in the environment but much of the heavy metals soil or water that has been contaminated through mining, pollution or pesticides. Persistent exposure to these toxic heavy metals can have long standing effect on neurological systems, respiratory systems, immune systems particularly in the early development of children. Heavy metals can also put children at risk for diabetes, skin disease, cancer, and behavioral problems. According to James Dickerson, Consumer Reports’ Chief Scientific Officer, some of the juices were marketed for children.
